Our Beliefs
Jesus • He is the eternal Son of God sent by his Father to earth as a baby born to a virgin called Mary. She conceived supernaturally by the Holy Spirit so that Jesus came as man, but also as God come in the flesh. (Matthew 1:18 - 21). Jesus did not leave His deity in heaven when he came to earth, but was verily God as well as man on earth (Matthew 1:23 and Isaiah 7:14). He chose to live out his humanity in dependence upon his Father. He was tempted by the devil even as Adam was, but without sinning as Adam and Eve had done.
Sin • When Adam and Eve sinned disobeying God, they fell from fellowship with God and came to have a sinful nature (a nature self centered instead of God centered and therefore prone to sin to satisfy oneself instead of glorifying God). Therefore, the devil had a correspondence to this sinful nature of man and could easily influence him to satisfy himself instead of obeying God. Man became a creature who chose to sin not because he couldn't obey, but because he chose not to obey. The Lord Jesus shed his blood on the cross to pay for our sins to redeem us to have fellowship and friendship with God. Therefore, people can be reconciled to God the Father through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ by the work of the Holy Spirit.
Trinity • We believe God is a Triune God, one God in three persons. the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
Salvation • To be redeemed, we believe a person must receive Jesus Christ into our hearts/lives to be our Saviour and Lord (master). To do that we must repent of our sinfulness (with the intention to stop sinning). Romans 3:20 says, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come into him, and will sup (intimate friendship) with him and he with me." He promises to enter our lives by our personal invitation. When man is redeemed, he
becomes one spirit with the Lord (I Corinthians 6:17) and has true
fellowship with him. We believe redeemed man is a new creature (II
Cor.5:17) and now he is free to choose to walk after the Spirit and not
after the his old sinful nature (Romans 8:1,2). He is free to live the
abundant life Jesus gives (John 10:10). Redeemed means literally
"bought back from the slavery to sin and self and also from satan's
kingdom of darkness and bondage."
Heaven and Hell • We believe in a literal heaven
where all who have their names written in the book of life will go.
(John 3:16, I John 5:11,12). Eternal Life is in the person of the Lord
Jesus Christ. We also believe in a literal hell where all who have not received Jesus as Saviour will go. Those not putting their trust in Him alone for salvation, do not have their name written in the Lamb's Book of Life. These shall go to an eternal hell of suffering and torture and separation from God (Revelation 20:15).
Second Coming and Judgements • We believe Jesus is coming again, first in the "rapture" or catching away of the true believers as in I Thessalonians 4:13-18 and secondly to earth with his saints to Jerusalem to reign in his Millenial Kingdom on earth before the eternal heavenly Kindgom. We believe that there will be what is called "the Judgement Seat of Christ" where all true believers will be judged for reward in heaven Their works done in following the Lord Jesus in service to Him will be evaluated especially in terms of motive in doing them. Some works done to engrandize self in some way will be burnt up as it were, but those works done out of love for the Lord and in obedience to Him will receive a reward. Also, we believe there will be a "White Throne Judgement" after the millenial reign of Christ from Jerusalem. This will be the judgement only for those who do not have their names recorded in the Book of Life. The Lake of Fire will be their sad destiny (Revelation 20:11 - 15)
Great Commission • We believe to reach the lost with the Gospel is the main purpose of the Church on earth. It is Christ's commission to His Church or body of Christ (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15).
